Application range
For interior solid wood, e.g. kitchen countertops, dining tables and windowsills as well as Multiplex boards. Conditionally suitable for veneers and plywood. Not suitable for chipboard, stained wood and cabinet interiors.
Technical qualities
Emphasizes the structure of the wood grain. Results in a matt surface after 1 coat and a satin glossy finish after 2 - 3 coats. Complies with the German Industrial Norm DIN 53 160 for color fastness when exposed to perspiration and saliva. Suitable for toys according to DIN EN 71, part 3. Free of organic-chemical compounds according to DIN EN 71, part 9. Water resistant after 3 applications and 4 weeks of curing. Successfully tested for emissions according to AgBB scheme (2022).
Application method
Stir thoroughly before use. Remove possible skin formed on surface. Test application!
1st coat: Apply the oil generously with a brush or roller – first crosswise, then lengthwise to the direction of the wood fibers. Remove any visible excess oil after about 20 minutes. The harder the wood (e.g. walnut), the longer the penetration time – but for a maximum of 30 minutes. All wood pores should be completely saturated with oil, but no oil should remain on the surface.
2nd coat (after at least 24 hours drying time): Apply the oil drop by drop (about 1 teaspoon per m²) and polish in immediately – either with a grain-free pad and random orbital sander or with a lint-free cotton cloth.
3rd coat (after a further 12 hours at least): Apply in the same way as the second coat. Three coats are required for reliable water resistance.
Important information for the first use: In the first 4 weeks after the last application, the coating hardens slightly on the inside. During this time, please avoid standing water and wide-area coverings. Apart from this, the surface can be used.
Coverage
Determine the exact coverage by doing a test coat.
First coat: 45 ml/m², i.e. 1 liter (1.06 quart) is sufficient for approximately 22 m² (237 ft²).
Second coat: 11 ml/m², i.e. 1 liter (1.06 quart) is sufficient for approximately 90m² (968 ft²).
Third coat: 4 ml/m², i.e. 1 liter (1.06 quart) is sufficient for approximately 250m² (2,690 ft²).
Consumption could be considerably less, depending on the condition and absorbency of the surface.
